Jishnu Saha, Esq. - Director, Offshore Legal Operations

Jishnu Saha is a LLB from the University of Calcutta. Prior to his enrolment as an Advocate in the Calcutta High Court, India, in 1989, Jishnu worked for about 3 years in leading law firms primarily involved in title and other searches, legal and statutory audits and documentation, where he developed excellent documentation skills.

Although Jishnu has essentially practiced as a counsel, in order to maintain and hone his documentation skills, he has also done diverse important documentation work relating to contracts, commerce and commercial transactions, joint ventures, amalgamations, partnerships, property, inheritance, succession, banking, mining etc. While practicing as a counsel, he has in the course of the past 17 years, developed an extensive practice and tremendous goodwill and reputation as a civil lawyer. While his areas of practice include most civil laws, his particular expertise is in civil, commercial and arbitration laws.

Apart from practicing in the Calcutta High Court, Jishnu appears regularly in many other High Courts in the country as also in the Supreme Court of India. Many of the cases argued by him are reported decisions. Jishnu has appeared in several important domestic and international Arbitrations and is a regular lecturer on Arbitration and Commercial laws.

In August, 2005, Jishnu was invited by the Council of State Governments of the United States to be trained in mediation and to talk on Indian Arbitration and Commercial laws. During his visit to the United States in August, 2005, he participated in various programs, meetings, discussions and conferences where he learnt about Mediation and talked about Indian Arbitration and Commercial Laws. Among many others, these included talks and programs at the American Arbitration Association and the Center for Prevention and Resolution of Disputes at New York, a program at the Supreme Court of Virginia at Richmond, a program at Georgetown University in Washington and a program on Negotiation at Harvard University. Jishnu is also an occasional lecturer at the Jogesh Chandra Chowdhury College of Law in Calcutta, India.
