Michael
Leetzow is a patent attorney with 14 years of experience
located in Lake Mary, Florida. Michael was an attorney
at two very large Intellectual Property law firms in
Washington, D.C. before going in-house as Patent Counsel
at Corning Cable Systems, a Fortune 500 company located
in North Carolina. After four years, he opened his own
Intellectual Property practice in his native state of
Florida.
Michael
is a member of the Florida, Georgia, and Washington,
D.C. bars and is admitted to practice before the U.S.
Patent and Trademark Office. He is also a member of
the American Intellectual Property Law Association,
the American Bar Association, and the Federal Circuit
Bar Association.
Michael
has experience in all facets of IP practice. The majority
of his practice is patent related, including patent
application drafting and prosecution. He also has extensive
patent prosecution experience in the fields of medical
devices and medical imaging (CT, MRI, ultrasound), golf
clubs and related devices, office products, flour milling
equipment and processes, and fiber optic devices and
processes. However, he also advises clients about all
aspects of the invention process, including confidentiality,
patent validity and infringement, and licensing. Michael
also advises clients on trademark and copyright issues
as they arise. In fact, his first two cases in Florida
were clients that had trademark issues on the internet.
Most recently, Michael was an expert witness in a multi-million
dollar patent infringement trial. The jury awarded the
client over $550 million in damages and the case settled
for $1.35 billion. Having been both the attorney and
a client, Michael brings a perspective to the IP field
that is different from many IP practitioners.
Michael’s
firm restricts its Practice to Intellectual Property
Matters, including Patents, Trademarks, Copyright, Trade
Secrets, Unfair Competition, Non-Disclosure Agreements,
License Agreements, Non-Compete Agreements, Litigation
Support (Expert Witnessing and IP Issues). His Firm
also handles Intellectual Property matters worldwide.
Michael
graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with
a B.S.H.P. degree in 1986 and from the University of
Florida with a M.S. in 1988. He received his J.D. from
the Washington College of Law.
